Time to Talk Time Travel

Time Travel is one of the  two hottest (potato) topics in the Townsend Brown story. UFOs run a close second. The barest whiff of either of them sends people scurrying away muttering something about whack-o nut jobs; so I might as well bring this one up for discussion now. At least it will help to cull  the closed-minded from the eventual book-reading audience.

Hints of time travel experiences weave in and out of the Townsend Brown story.  A close reading of descriptions offered by those who have claim to have taken such journeys leads me to believe that their experiences were "virtual trips" entailing complete shifts of consciousness and awareness.  But it may well be that another form of time travel exists now which shifts the body along with the mind.

In the early sixties, such teleportation capabilities were believed to be on the near horizon.  A French journalist quoted Townsend's good friend Bill Lear, inventor of the Lear Jet, as saying we would soon be traveling long distances with the ease of stepping into and out of an elevator.  Another of Townsend's close friends, mathematician and linguist, A.L. "Beau" Kitselman, was also fascinated by the subject of time.  In his seventy three page monograph, The Time Teachers, he indicates that he may have reached some useful formulations as a result of his studies.

I recently read a headline stating that another time travel whistle blower has come forth.  Dr. David Anderson is a physicist who claims to have worked for the Air Force, constructing a third generation "time warp generator."  He says (big Duh!) that the government controls the release of information about these types of programs and that we, the people who actually pay for such experimentation, only hear about them is when it has been decided that the time is right. Perhaps the mere presence of these whistle blowers (whether they are for reals, or are disinfo agents, or are even just "whack-o nut jobs") indicates that the time has come.

At any rate, this is a good stopping point and I will be back soon to talk more about The Time Teachers.

Before all the "whack-o nutjobs" and those "disinfo agents" get involved, I would like to point out a few things. If I were to say to you, "I am going on a trip" all you know is one truthful fact - I am leaving to go somewhere. The statement does not tell you a destination and it definitely doesn't tell you the method that I will travel by. Will I walk? Will I take an automobile? fly? oceanliner? The reality of my statement? - It is just a general statement. The statement "Time Travel" is similar.

Too many individuals when hearing the words "Time Travel", jump to a sci-fi conclusion or they look about for those wearing a tin foil hat. Ever read a good book on history? Is that not a form of time travel? What if I were to say that a car or an airplane, as an example, could be considered "time machines"? They both can get you to a destination in a shorter period of time than walking. Of course someone will say that it is always in a forward movement but then again the initial statement only said "Time Travel". Anyone that would argue the point is assuming. Perhaps the natural response would to ask for a clarification of the statement "Time Travel".

Would one consider a Remote Viewer to be a time traveller? Interesting question, would't you say? ....but then, you are reading Kitselman.

It can be argued that my statements above have a bit of assumption. I look forward to your postings on this.

Thank you, Farmer. Let's make it even a richer mix by considering the variations that might be introduced by a "time-warp generator," such as Anderson claims to have designed.

BTW, have you seen AVATAR? I think Beau would have liked it. He was very much a proponent of the belief that we operate as larger selves than we know and we need to learn how to step into them.

A "time-warp generator" you say? In his interview, Dr. Anderson mentions quantum tunneling, time-warp fields, and wormholes. I enjoy reading the many applications of the word "quantum", don't you? Quantum entanglement, Quantum Tunneling, Quantum String theory. Ask the question what would be required to create a "time-warp" field. Then ask how this would have an intersection with Dr. Brown's work.

So very much to learn yet, wouldn't you say?
